Jo was admitted to practice in 1999. Jo has extensive experience acting for small and medium sized businesses in a broad range of areas in commercial and property law. She has advised clients on a range of transactions ranging from small family matters to multi-million dollar developments.
Jo specialises in drafting plain English, easy to understand commercial documents including sale contracts, management agreements, leases, licences, shareholder agreements, tenders and other transactional documents. Jo also provides advice regarding Freedom of Information, Liquor Licensing, Competition Law, Estate Planning, Wills and Probate and Administration applications.
Jo holds a Bachelor of Laws from Murdoch University as well as a Bachelor of Arts, Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. She is a member of the Law Society of Western Australia, the Australian Institute of Administrative Lawyers, the Australian New Zealand Education Lawyers.
Evan commenced employment with what is now the Department of Justice in 1987 and worked in senior roles for the State Director of Public Prosecutions for Western Australia, within the District Court, as the Associate in the Liquor Licencing Court and at various roles at the Perth Children’s Court prior to commencing his studies in law. He also worked for an independent Australia wide law firm in the Property and Infrastructure Group assisting in Liquor Licensing matters whilst studying towards his law degree.
After completing a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Western Australia in 2012, Evan worked for a Perth based law firm specialising in personal injury claims, then at commercial legal practice in the commercial litigation area, working on a mix of commercial litigation matters and personal injuries claims.
Evan has represented clients in commercial disputes in the Magistrates Court, District Court, Supreme Court of Western Australia and the Federal Court as well as in the State Administrative Tribunal, in both Building Disputes and Guardianship and Administration applications. He has acted in relation to construction disputes, debt recovery, contractual disputes and administration matters, and briefed Counsel in a range of opinion and advocacy matters. He retains a keen interest in personal injuries and continues to represent clients through all aspects of their claims.
Evan is a member of the Law Society of Western Australia.
Edward qualified as a solicitor in the UK in 2015 and worked for two years at a large national firm in Bristol, specialising in commercial property law. In 2017 Edward moved to Perth and began working as a paralegal at McAllister Legal in August 2017, whilst completing the courses required for admission as a solicitor in Western Australia. Edward has been assisting with all aspects of the work carried out by the firm, including leases and property disputes, Freedom of Information requests, commercial terms and conditions, competition and consumer law, and liquor licensing issues. He was admitted as a legal practitioner in Western Australia in June.
Edward holds a BA in Geography from the University of Nottingham and completed his legal qualifications at BPP Law School in London and Manchester. Before entering the legal profession Edward worked in several roles around the world, including as an assistant to the company secretary of a construction company in Dubai and teaching English in Madrid, where he learnt Spanish to a high level.
Edward’s interests include continuing to improve his Spanish and practicing yoga.
